Whitstable Pearl Series 3

Daughters of Darkness

Malpertuis

Adapted from the novel by Jean Ray and featuring legendary filmmaker Orson Welles in a towering late-career performance. Harry Kümel’s Malpertuis centres on Jean-Jacques Griffon (Mathieu Carriere), a disillusioned young man who returns to his ancestral home after his father’s death, only to find the sprawling mansion has become a cryptic maze filled with strange inhabitants. His dying father has trapped several relatives and mysterious figures inside Malpertuis, an ancient, decaying mansion rumoured to be a prison for old gods disguised as humans. As Jean-Jacques unravels disturbing secrets about his family’s cursed legacy, he discovers supernatural forces at play. Malpertuis has its 4K restored premiere at London FrightFest on 24 August and is set for a Limited Edition Blu-ray Box Set release on 13 October courtesy of Radiance Films.  

Live Life Season 2

Based on a true events, Live Life is an emotional and uplifting young adult Swedish drama that blends raw emotion, heart and resilience while exploring the complexities of youth, friendship and finding joy even in life’s toughest moments. When ambitious Nora (Hanna Ardéhn), who seems to have it all, is diagnosed with cancer, her world is turned upside down. This new series sees Nora return to Stockholm after a year in London, ready for a carefree summer with friends. But her world shatters when she learns her cancer is back, and this time it's worse. The Innkeepers

The Innkeepers is the critically acclaimed, award-winning early work from horror auteur Ti West. As the once-grand Yankee Pedlar Inn prepares to close its doors for good, two intrepid employees, Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy), decide to document the hotel’s legendary ghost stories during its final weekend. But as night falls and with only a handful of guests remaining, including retired actress turned paranormal expert, Leanne Rease-Jones (Kelly McGillis), an eerie darkness starts to fill the old building and Claire’s curiosity turns into a creeping dread. The Odd Job

Director Peter Medak’s 1978 black comedy The Odd Job stars legendary actor and co-writer Graham Chapman as the happily married Arthur Harris, who becomes suicidal when his wife suddenly up and leaves him. Trying, and failing miserably, to do the deed himself, but when a strange handyman (Sir David Jason) turns up on his doorstep to offer his services, he enlists the help of this peculiar stranger to kill him instead. But when Arthur’s wife decides to come back home and try again, he discovers that his homicidal hire has every intention of finishing the job.
